Description
Vessels for wine and water in various modifications belonged to the ceramics of the Han period.
This vase-shaped wine container has an oval cross section. The color is grey-brown with remaining stocks of white color. The vessel has three sections: the small round-based standfoot, the bulging container and the low neck with an upper rectangular finish. The neck and the foot are much smaller than the body. The neck wears a tape with white painting while the body shows only minor paint residue. The overall shape reminds on the cocoon of a silkworm.
Those vessels were found on burial sites. They became filled up with wine that the deceased should enjoy in the afterlife. [1]
