Standing chicken with brown glaze and light green splendor. Very well formed from head to the wings and the tail feathers. The legs are fastened to a common base. It is a hallow vessel, apparently used for a sacrificial potion with wine. The back closure is missing.

Standing chicken with brown glaze and light green splendor. Very well formed from head to the wings and the tail feathers. The legs are fastened to a common base. It is a hallow vessel, apparently used for a sacrificial potion with wine. [1] The back closure is missing.
Chickens have a long domestication history, also in China. Ceramic imitations belonged like other domestic animals to the grave goods of the Han Dynasty. The Chinese symbolism says that chickens were able to drive away evil spirits. (HV)
