Description
The jar has a short neck, an elongated body and a small base. The motives of painting are focused to a „Paradise Garden“. The naturalistic decoration covers the whole vessel and is divided into some parts: leaves and branches, different animals as a gazelle, „birds of paradise“ and a peacock, geometric ornaments. A man with turban, kaftan with sash and pointed shoes in the middle is raising his arms violently so that the gazelle is fleeing and the birds flying away. Apparently he scared the animals away.
The complete scene and the geometric elements are shaped in different nuances of blue color: light, middle and darker blue.
From the symbolic the gazelle is considered as the epitome of beauty, the peacock for beauty and richness. As old myths say he is the fellow of kings or Gods, and his feathers have magic power. (HV)
