Description

Bronze played a particular role in the Islamic Culture: in ordinary devices and luxurious and high artificial quality as well. [1] This artifact from bronze consists of a bowl and a lid. Both of the parts are symmetric. Attached on the head is a knob and on the lower part oft he bowl a small standfoot. All ariund the vessel is covered with engravings. Around the edge of the lid is a decoration of lotos leaves, then zig-zag patterns and rhombes with dashed borders. The lower bowl bears plant motifs and geometric patterns. There are vertical separated fields with flowers, and below a double zig-zag. (HV)
