Description
The bowl has a harmonic and elegant rounded shape with a bulging mouth and a small standring. The inside is designed on the brownish bottom-surface and the inner wall. The areas contain interesting motifs: a like a „sun“ stylized chrysanthemum in the center and seven lotos leaves placed in double layers; one of these leaves is worn. The inner walls contain several concentric circles which are a symbol for connectedness and harmony. Vertically are lined up close together elongated zig-zag lines like a fine grid. The patterns are designed in a popular technique. The motifs were painted or stamped to the leather-hard clay with a white compound. This combination was of kaolin-containing clay mixed with a lot of water. Then the bowl was glazed all around in grey-brownish color, included the bottom, and taken to the kiln. The standring shows traces of oxidation. (HV)
