Description

The box consists of two parts, a bowl and a flat lid. The bowl has a flat footring and an angular edge on which the lid rests. There is a rich inlayed decoration on the lid: In the centre is a medaillon with a peony.  Around are four similar white chrysanthemum blossoms with a black stamp each and in between fine black leaf tendrils. A meander band forms the end of the lid. An opposing meander band characterizes also the closing edge of the bowl. The box is inside and outside completely glazed and appears in grey-green colors. Craquelures. On the one side of the bottom are small irregularities of clay, on the other traces of oxidation and leftovers from the fire support. (HV)
