Description
The arrangement consists of two parts, a pedestal and a separate simple smooth mug. The pedestal has a conical standring with an uneven formed finishing edge. Then follows an expansive dish-shaped base. This has a round device with a prominent base for adjusting the cup. The border of the plate shows five curved elements interrupted by decoration-scores.
The cup has a bit bulging mouth for convenient drinking. There are cracks on the upper inside, tiny air bubbles and rests of kiln supports on the standing area. This goblet-shaped cup is typical for the Koryō Period. There are examples in silver. [1]
Pedestal and cup form a unit, but are a little different in the glaze. The one is green, the other more grey-beige. It can be concluded that both parts originally didn’t belong together. (HV)
