Description
The body of the jug is similar to a pear with a small neck, a handle, a standfoot and an interesting shaped mouth. It is glazed in turquoise color with darker drip edges on the lower body. There are glaze-gaps due to production. The interesting shaped mouth compressed into a thin beak allows by a top view to the vessel opening the obervation of the face of a bird. Those jugs show distant features of the „Oinochoe“, the ancient Greek wine pots which reached China via Syria. [1] (HV)
