Description

The fayence bowl has a conical shape and a small standfoot. It is inside painted and outside white with small brush strokes. The inside decoration is divided in three zones: in the centre of the light green bottom are a stylized flower and four fish. Vegetable motifs and shapes of animals were preferred for those pieces of fayence.[1] Then follows an orange border. The broad upper band is structured into four similar areas with geometric patterns, characters and lightly spiral filling decoration on a blue-grey background. The outside is white with ochre sprinkles, the bottom yellowish. (HV)
